A recent revelation in a new book suggests that the late Hollywood icon Natalie Wood endured a traumatic experience as a young teenager at the hands of actor Kirk Douglas.
The shocking allegations come from Ms. Wood's sister, Lana, detailed in her upcoming memoir “Little Sister,” set for publication on 9 November.
As per excerpts released by the Associated Press, the incident in question occurred during the summer of 1955 while Ms. Wood was involved in filming The Searchers.
Lana Wood discloses that the encounter between the two stars was orchestrated by their mother, Maria Zakharenko, who had hoped that Mr. Douglas could provide career opportunities for the aspiring actress.
At the time of the alleged assault, Kirk Douglas, a prominent figure in his 30s, was renowned for his roles in major films like Spartacus, The Bad and the Beautiful, and Gunfight at the O.K.

Recalling the distressing event, Lana Wood vividly describes her sister's return to the car after the encounter with Mr. Douglas, portraying Natalie as visibly distraught and disheveled.

It wasn't until years later that the truth emerged, with Natalie confiding in Lana about the harrowing experience she endured in Mr. Douglas' presence.
The heartfelt revelation came when Natalie disclosed, “he hurt me, Lana,” shedding light on the profound impact of the alleged assault.
Kirk Douglas, who passed away in February 2020 at the age of 103, had faced longstanding rumors surrounding the alleged assault, prompting a resurgence of public interest following his demise.
