Larry King's widow, Shawn King, has filed court papers contesting his secret will, according to a report by Page Six.
The papers were filed on Tuesday in an L.A. court, following the news that Larry had filed for divorce from Shawn in 2019 and left his $2 million estate to his children in the newly discovered will.
Shawn, 61, claims in the documents that Larry's poor health made him vulnerable to outside influences and questions whether he was aware he was signing the new will.
She argues that at the time of his death, Larry had no intention of going through with the divorce.
The papers state that Larry's mental capacity was questionable due to recent stroke and an upcoming medical procedure that may have influenced his decision-making.
Shawn is requesting that a 2015 will, created by both Shawn and Larry with the assistance of a lawyer, be recognized as the valid will.
She also seeks to be named the executor of the estate, as stated in the 2015 document.
Although Larry wrote the new will two months after filing for divorce, Shawn suggests that they were on the verge of reconciling before his death.
The court papers indicate that Larry was nonresponsive and uninterested in participating in the divorce proceedings, giving no indication that he wanted to pursue a divorce.
Shawn further claims that the new will violates the terms of two post-nuptial agreements made between her and Larry.
She accuses Larry of having a secret account and making gifts using community property that she is entitled to.
She alleges that Larry Jr., Larry's middle son, received over $266,000 in gifts from this account between 2013-2018 and demands 50 percent of those gifts be returned.
Larry Jr. has also requested to be named the executor of the estate.
However, Shawn's filings argue that Larry Sr. was unaware of Larry Jr.'s existence until he was in his 30s and emphasizes that Larry Jr. had no involvement in his father's career or business, making him unsuitable for representing the estate.
In the secret will, Larry expressed his desire for his estate to be divided among his five children: Andy, Chaia, Larry Jr., Chance, and Cannon.
Tragically, both Andy and Chaia passed away within weeks of each other in 2020.
