In a surprising turn of events, Larry King's widow, Shawn, has expressed her disbelief after learning that she was completely left out of his secret will.
It has been revealed that King added a handwritten amendment to his will on October 17, 2019, stipulating that his $2 million estate should be divided equally among his five children in the event of his death.
This amendment came just two months after he filed for divorce from Shawn, who now plans to take legal action to secure her rightful share.
She believes that King may have been influenced into making this change.
Shawn, who is 61 years old, claims that she and King had previously created a solid family estate plan together in 2015.
She asserts that this plan still exists and is the legitimate will.
Her attorneys are preparing a response to challenge the new will.
The issue of King's inheritance was already complicated due to the deaths of two of his children, Andy and Chaia, within a month of each other in 2020.
Furthermore, King's divorce from Shawn was not yet finalized at the time of his death last month.
According to Shawn, she and King had reconciled and were on good terms before his passing.
She questioned the alleged estrangement and subsequent reconciliation between them.
When asked about the reason behind the amendment to his will, Shawn responded with confusion, stating that it beats her.
She also mentioned that their sons, Chance and Cannon, were shocked to learn about her exclusion from the inheritance.
Shawn believes that King may have been influenced by someone to make this change.
If Shawn is successful in her legal challenge, she may be entitled to a portion of the $2 million estate, which could amount to around $300,000.
This would be divided between Shawn, King's three surviving children, and the descendants of Andy and Chaia.
Shawn emphasizes that it is a matter of principle for her to fight for what she believes is rightfully hers.
Larry King passed away at the age of 87 in Los Angeles due to sepsis, triggered by a bacterial infection.
His death was not directly related to his hospitalization for COVID-19 in December.
Shawn revealed that King's final words to her were spoken over a video call from the hospital, expressing his love for her and instructing her to take care of their sons.
In memory of Larry King, everyone who attended his funeral service wore his signature suspenders.
King leaves behind a legacy as a renowned broadcaster and interviewer.
He had a total of eight marriages and was survived by five children, nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Despite the legal battles surrounding his will, his family continues to mourn his loss and remember him fondly.
