Larry King’s Widow to Challenge Secret Handwritten Will in Court

's widow, Shawn King, is reportedly planning to contest the legitimacy of a secret amendment he made to his will.

Last week, TMZ revealed that in 2019, King had handwritten an amendment to his will, requesting that his approximately $2 million estate be divided equally among his five children, excluding Shawn.

King passed away last month at the age of 87 from sepsis caused by underlying conditions, according to People.

Shawn expressed her confusion about the updated will to Page Six, stating that they had a solid family estate plan that they had written together as a couple in 2015.

She believes that this plan still exists and is the legitimate will.

She has full confidence that it will hold up in court, and her attorneys are expected to file a response soon.

The legal situation is further complicated by the fact that two months before writing the amendment, King filed for divorce from Shawn, his seventh wife.

However, they had not reached a resolution before his passing.

In the amendment, King named all five of his children as beneficiaries, but two of them—Andy and Chiara, his children with Alene Akins—passed away in 2020.

Interestingly, King never mentioned this update to his will despite reportedly becoming close friends with Shawn again after filing for divorce.

Shawn and her two children with Larry, Cannon and Chance, were surprised and shocked to learn about the existence of this amendment.

They fully support her decision to take the matter to court, as they are unhappy with the situation.

When asked why Larry would have made such a change without her knowledge, Shawn admitted she had no idea.

She believes that someone influenced him to make the amendment but did not provide further details.

Shawn also clarified that she does not think the secret will was a direct response to their divorce filing, as the timeline does not make sense.

For her, it's not about the money but rather the principle behind it.

The upcoming legal battle will determine the validity of the secret amendment and whether 's estate will be distributed as stated in the handwritten document.

Shawn King remains confident that the original family estate plan will prevail in court.

As the proceedings unfold, the question of who influenced Larry's decision to make this change without informing Shawn continues to linger.

The outcome of this case will have significant implications for both Shawn and Larry's surviving children.
