In a recent interview with Oprah Winfrey on OWN, Lindsay Lohan opened up about her past struggles with drug addiction, particularly cocaine.
The actress admitted to previously lying about the frequency of her cocaine use, stating that she had actually used the drug around 10-15 times, rather than the three or four times she had previously claimed.
Lohan confessed that she had been afraid of judgment and had snorted cocaine, though she never injected it.
She also clarified that her addiction was solely to alcohol, but acknowledged that in the past, alcohol had been a gateway to other substances for her.
She revealed that she would often combine cocaine with alcohol to enhance her party experiences, although she admitted that she never felt good the next day.
The actress also discussed her time in jail, which she first experienced in 2010 for violating probation.
Lohan described the moment as terrifying but revealed that deep down, she knew she needed help.
She stated that her actions, or lack thereof, had subconsciously indicated her desire to go to jail.
Despite the chaos surrounding her, which she had grown accustomed to, she recognized the need for change.
Throughout the interview, Lohan expressed gratitude for her attorney, Shawn Holley, who has supported her throughout her legal battles.
She described Holley as family and praised her spirit and dedication to Lohan's well-being.
Regarding her current state, Lohan shared that she has been clean and now only takes vitamins and Nexium for acid reflux.
She admitted to previously taking Adderall for her attention deficit disorder (ADD) but claimed that she no longer believes she needs it and functions better without it.
Lohan emphasized that her transformation did not happen overnight but rather through a gradual realization over time.
When asked if she thrived on chaos, Lohan admitted that she believed she did.
She explained that what seemed chaotic to others was normal for her.
However, she expressed a desire to learn to be comfortable with things just being okay.
Addressing her family dynamics, Lohan denied feeling exploited by her parents, Dina and Michael Lohan.
However, she did express regret about certain family issues being aired publicly, such as the leaked phone call in which she accused her mother of using cocaine, a claim she now admits was false.
Lohan also stressed that she is not the same wild child she once was and is determined to prove herself as a responsible adult in the entertainment industry.
She acknowledged that regaining trust from directors and producers would require hard work and focus.
Recognizing that she can be her own worst enemy, Lohan expressed a commitment to staying honest and dedicated to her career.
As for her immediate plans, Lohan revealed that she will be traveling to Europe with her brother to participate in a yoga and meditation retreat.
When questioned about the timing of this trip, coming just four days after completing rehab, Lohan insisted that she is in a different headspace and no longer desires the things she once did.
Winfrey advised her to spend some time in New York before embarking on the trip, a suggestion Lohan said she would consider.
Overall, Lohan's interview with Winfrey provided a candid glimpse into her past struggles and her determination to move forward in a positive direction.
The actress expressed a newfound clarity and willingness to work hard to regain trust and rebuild her career.
Only time will tell if Lohan can truly transform her life and find success in her chosen path.
