Margot Robbie, known for her role as Harley Quinn, gained significant Hollywood fame through her involvement in The Wolf of Wall Street.
While it was not her debut film, the Martin Scorsese-directed movie propelled her career to new heights.
Alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Robbie starred in this blockbuster production, which contained a few interesting moments during filming.
One such instance involved Robbie's refusal to perform a scene as written in the script.
The adult scenes in The Wolf of Wall Street are notorious and have become iconic in their own right.
However, there was one specific scene that Robbie rejected outright.
The Babylon actress claimed that she would never be able to execute that particular scene convincingly.
So, what scene did Margot Robbie refuse to do in The Wolf of Wall Street?
The $406 million blockbuster featured several bold scenes involving its lead actors.
The scene in question centers around a seduction scene between Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie in a nursery, where Robbie's character pokes her stiletto heel into DiCaprio's face.
Originally, the plan was for Robbie to use her stiletto heels to pull aside her underwear in the scene.
However, Robbie found the scene too challenging to perform.
In an interview with The Globe and Mail, she revealed that she attempted to practice the intimate scene as written but ultimately had to improvise.
“When I read it, I remember thinking, ‘That's just impossible.'
I was like, ‘No, I'm right, that is absolutely impossible.'”
Robbie also shared how difficult it was for her to film such intimate sequences.
She explained that one must suppress any embarrassment or awkwardness when shooting these scenes in front of a predominantly male crew.
The Wolf of Wall Street also presented other painful experiences for Robbie, most notably the famous lovemaking scene on top of a pile of cash.
During the filming of The Wolf of Wall Street, Robbie also experienced physical pain.
The scene involving a s**ual encounter with DiCaprio on a stack of cash left her with noticeable injuries.
She has since warned her fans against attempting similar acts, as she suffered numerous cuts on her back.
“I got a million paper cuts on my back from all that money.
It's not as glamorous as it sounds.
If anyone is ever planning on having s** on top of a pile of cash: don't.”
After filming the scene, Robbie discovered that her back was covered in scratches resembling whip marks.
“Or maybe real money is a bit softer, but the fake money is like paper, and when I got up off the bed, I turned around to get my robe and everyone gasped.
I said, ‘What is it?'
And they said, ‘You look like you've been whipped a million times.
Your back is covered in a thousand red scratches.'”
Despite the challenges faced during the production of The Wolf of Wall Street, Robbie's journey ultimately led to worldwide fame and numerous fan-favorite projects.
Currently, she is eagerly awaiting the release of Barbie, directed by Greta Gerwig.
Set to premiere on July 21st, this film is based on the immensely popular toy line and features Robbie alongside Ryan Gosling, Simu Liu, Will Ferrell, Dua Lipa, and more.
For those interested, The Wolf of Wall Street is available for streaming on Prime Video.
