In a surprising revelation, Margot Robbie, the 29-year-old Australian actress, admitted that she has never seen a single Star Wars movie and has no intention of doing so in the near future.
During an interview alongside her Once Upon a Time in Hollywood co-stars, Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt, Robbie shared that she used to face teasing from DiCaprio whenever she mentioned not having seen certain iconic or popular films.
As Robbie recalled, “I remember when you (DiCaprio) and I did Wolf of Wall Street that you would get mad at me for anytime I'd mention a movie I hadn't seen, he'd be like, ‘How have you not seen Citizen Kane?
How can you work in this industry and not see Citizen Kane?!'”
Robbie further explained that she would then go home and watch the movies DiCaprio recommended, such as Citizen Kane, to fill the gaps in her film knowledge.
However, it appears that Robbie's admission of never having seen Citizen Kane did not provoke as strong a reaction as when she reveals that she has never watched any of the Star Wars films.
The fact that she has managed to avoid them for 29 years astounds people, which in turn makes Robbie even less interested in watching them.
“I've never seen any Star Wars (films), and I kind of don't watch it now just because it infuriates people so much.
They're like, ‘How?!
How have you never watched any Star Wars?!”
she said.
In fact, Robbie admits that the incredulous responses she receives from fans of the franchise only reinforce her desire to continue avoiding the Star Wars movies.
She has made it into a personal challenge to see just how long she can resist the temptation to watch them.
Given that Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is set during the golden age of cinema, Robbie's co-stars were taken aback when they discovered that she had not seen many classics from that era.
In addition to Star Wars, Robbie admitted to never having watched Gone With the Wind either, which prompted an astonished response from DiCaprio.
Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is scheduled to be released on July 26th, and fans are eagerly anticipating Robbie's performance in this homage to the bygone era of cinema.
