Marlon Brando, the renowned actor, is set to release his autobiography next week, and it contains shocking claims about the death of his friend Marilyn Monroe.
According to New York Newsday columnist Liz Smith, who obtained an advance copy of the highly anticipated book, Brando asserts that he believes Monroe was murdered.
The revelation has stirred up a wave of speculation and intrigue surrounding the mysterious circumstances of Monroe's untimely demise.
In addition to his claims about Monroe, Brando opens up about his relationships with other notable figures in Hollywood.
He describes Charlie Chaplin, who directed him in a film, as the cruelest man he ever encountered.
Brando also labels Richard Burton as a “mean drunk” and accuses Lee Strasberg, the founder of New York's Actor's Studio, of being a fraud.
These candid remarks offer readers a glimpse into Brando's personal opinions and experiences within the industry.
Titled “Brando: Songs My Mother Taught Me,” the autobiography is scheduled for release in a limited first edition of 500,000 copies.
Brando was compensated a staggering $5 million to pen his memoirs.
However, despite the hefty payout, the book does not delve into the actor's tumultuous relationships with his spouses and children, according to Smith.
It seems that Brando has carefully curated the content of his memoirs, revealing only what he wishes to disclose.
Smith suggests that this may be Brando's way of playing a final prank on the press, whom he holds in contempt.
The author emphasizes that Brando's self-critical nature shines through in his writing, demonstrating that he can be harsher on himself than any critic.
Although a brief excerpt from the book was published recently in Parade Magazine, Smith reveals that some of the most intriguing comments Brando made about Monroe were omitted.
