In the highly anticipated film “Black Swan” by Darren Aronofsky, scheduled for release this Friday, the movie industry is abuzz with excitement.
This ballet-themed movie stars Natalie Portman as Nina Sayers, offering a mix of dark and striking beauty as the lead ballerina strives for the coveted main role in “Swan Lake.”
The storyline delves into an intense psychological competition when a new dancer, Lily portrayed by Mila Kunis, challenges for the top position, leading to a dynamic filled with s–ual implications, especially the talked-about love scene between Portman and Kunis.
The intense clash of personalities between the dancers is evident, paralleled by their equally passionate encounters.
It is intriguing to note that Portman and Kunis, who portray rivals on screen, are actually close friends off-screen.
During a recent interview with MTV News, the lead actress shared her thoughts on filming challenging scenes with someone she is deeply acquainted with.
Portman commended her friend's portrayal of the antagonist, mentioning that she had suggested Kunis for the role to Aronofsky based on physical resemblance.
Reflecting on this decision, she admitted, “It was quite surreal because Mila and I were very close friends.”
She further acknowledged Kunis' exceptional talent and performance in the movie.
However, Portman later confessed that she had not fully considered the implications of portraying intimate scenes with Kunis on screen.
The actress candidly expressed the discomfort associated with filming those specific scenes while also highlighting the positive aspect of having Kunis as a co-star.
Portman remarked, “It was a bit awkward.
I almost feel like it would have been less strange with someone unfamiliar.”
Nonetheless, she emphasized the benefit of having a familiar face around to share laughter, jokes, and navigate through the process together.
Despite efforts by Aronofsky to foster rivalry by keeping the actresses apart on set, Portman and Kunis maintained their friendship.
Portman revealed the director's tactics to fuel competition by scheduling their ballet training separately and feeding them contrasting feedback.
She humorously recalled how they exchanged information and realized that Aronofsky was playing mind games with them, indicating it was all part of the on-screen dynamics.
