Sheehan claims that after a s**ual encounter at Nicholson’s residence, the actor assaulted her and subsequently settled the matter by paying her $32,500 in the following year.
Sheehan’s legal action aims to nullify the settlement, along with seeking compensation for unspecified general and punitive damages, and reimbursement of her medical and legal expenses.
The lawsuit was officially lodged on May 2 in Superior Court, with a copy of the case being acquired by The Associated Press last Thursday.
Efforts to obtain comments from both Sheehan and Nicholson on the issue were unfruitful as they could not be reached for statements.
Despite attempts to contact Sheehan’s lawyer, Robert E. Riemer, after business hours, there was no immediate response.
In response to inquiries regarding the lawsuit, a representative at Nicholson’s office, Sandy Bresler, stated that any requests for comments must be submitted in writing via fax.
However, there has been no prompt reply to the faxed communication.
The legal document delineates that Nicholson allegedly invited Sheehan and a companion to his residence on October 12, 1996, offering them $1,000 each to don “little black dresses” and engage in intimate activities with him.
Following their compliance and Sheehan’s request for payment, the situation escalated as Nicholson reportedly became aggressive and denied ever compensating anyone for such encounters, asserting his ability to attract partners
