Renowned for her exceptional acting skills, Nicole Kidman, an accomplished Australian actress with numerous accolades, including an Academy Award, has left a lasting mark on Hollywood and the global film scene.
Not only is she celebrated for her on-screen performances, but also for her advocacy work and philanthropic endeavors.
During her collaborations with the now-disgraced film magnate Harvey Weinstein, Kidman consciously maintained a certain distance.
Her avoidance stemmed from his notorious outbursts of anger, which she found unpalatable.
Kidman notably worked with Weinstein on films like The Hours, Cold Mountain, and Lion.
Despite her limited knowledge of the allegations against him until they became public last year, she made a conscious effort to minimize her engagements with the producer due to his controlling nature over her promotional commitments.
In an interview with Variety (via Stuff), Kidman shared her recollection of Weinstein, stating, “He would get angry.
My recollection of Harvey was never anything other than, ‘Nicole, do this'.
I purposely kept my distance.”
Following the emergence of the allegations against Weinstein, Kidman voiced her support for the alleged victims who came forward.
Expressing solidarity with those speaking out against abuse and misuse of power, whether in domestic settings or workplace environments, Kidman emphasized the need to combat such behaviors.
She even lent her vocals to the track “Female,” written by Nicolle Galyon, Shane McAnally, and Ross Copperman, inspired by the Weinstein scandal.
Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise, who married in 1990 after meeting on the set of Days of Thunder in late 1989, maintained a relationship shrouded in privacy.
Cruise, an established star when they wed, inadvertently shielded Kidman from instances of s**ual harassment as she navigated her early years in Hollywood.
In an article for The Cut, Kidman reflected on her marriage, revealing, “I got married very young, but it definitely wasn't power for me — it was protection.
I married for love, but being married to an extremely powerful man kept me from being s**ually harassed.
I would work, but I was still very much cocooned.
So when I came out of it at 32, 33, it's almost like I had to grow up.”
Kidman's current marriage is to Keith Urban, and she rarely delves into the details of her past relationship with Cruise.
Demonstrating her resilience and commitment to supporting victims of abuse, Kidman continues to advocate for a safer and more equitable industry for all.
