Not Another Church Movie: A Parody or a Flop?

It has been a week since the debut of the film “Not Another Church,” a parody taking aim at 's signature style.

The movie follows the story of Taylor Ferry, a man who receives a divine calling to write and share family tales, only to face interference from the devil.

Viewers who have watched the film are now sharing their thoughts, with the creators emphasizing that they intentionally crafted a subpar production to further satirize Perry's work.

Following its release, public opinion on the film has been mixed, with a meager 13% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Some even go as far as to claim that this spoof is more unbearable than any genuine movie.

In response to the criticisms, the film's producers took to Instagram to defend their creation, stating that every aspect viewers find lacking was deliberately incorporated to mirror their perception of Perry's films.

They dubbed it as the world's first diss track movie, cleverly leveraging current rap beefs to generate buzz.

Social media discussions echo the sentiments expressed on review platforms like Rotten Tomatoes, with many expressing disappointment in the film.

One user criticized “Not Another Church” for its lack of coherent plot or storyline, describing it as a disjointed sequence of stereotypical scenes.

Despite the absence of official budget details, reports indicate that the movie grossed $360,000 across 1,000 theaters during Mother's Day weekend, a stark contrast to the blockbuster success of “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes,” which raked in an impressive $58 million.

Regrettably, “Not Another Church” seems to have missed the mark in garnering the same acclaim for satire as other Tyler Perry parodies like “The Boondocks,” “Paws,” or “Atlantis Worth Ethic,” all of which elicited responses from the entertainment mogul himself.

Perry, however, has remained silent on the latest spoof.

As the film continues its theatrical run, audiences are encouraged to form their own opinions while keeping in mind the intentional imperfections woven into the narrative.

The producers invite viewers to engage with the film's unconventional approach, acknowledging that perfection was never the goal.

Share your thoughts on the producers' response to the criticism and weigh in on whether Tyler Perry should address the parody.
