Paul Walker’s Automotive Legacy: A Look at His Iconic Car Collection

His passion for automobiles was as intense as his love for acting, and his car collection is a testament to that.

From the iconic Nissan Skyline R34 to the Hollywood-famous Shelby GT500 Eleanor, Walker's garage housed an impressive array of vehicles that spoke to his unique taste.

One of the standout stars of Walker's collection was undoubtedly the Nissan Skyline R34.

His fascination with Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) cars began when he spotted an R32 Skyline at a studio.

This sparked a journey that led him to Motorex, the sole company authorized to import R34s into the United States at the time.

Walker secured a famous R34, dubbed the Blackbird, on loan for several months, and his infatuation with the model deepened.

Eventually, he purchased a stunning 1999 V-Spec in Sonic Silver, making him one of the fortunate few to own one of only 14 federally legal R34s in the country.

However, the road to ownership wasn't entirely smooth.

Walker's initial R34 faced some paint issues, prompting him to upgrade to a sleek 2001 R34 V-Spec II in white.

He sold the silver version to a buyer in Hawaii, who later encountered legal troubles that forced the sale of the beloved car.

After spending 15 years in Texas, it resurfaced at auction in 2020, landing in California where it holds significant sentimental value as Walker's former ride.

The estimated worth now?

A staggering $400,000, as valued by Craig Lieberman.

But the Skyline wasn't the only gem in Walker's collection.

His personal 1995 Toyota Supra Mk4 also made waves, especially after its appearance in “Furious 7.”

This striking white Targa-topped beauty not only showcased Walker's love for JDM cars but also served as a poignant tribute in the film, where a CGI version of his character Brian O'Connor drove the vehicle alongside Dominic Toretto's Dodge Charger RT.

Among the lesser-known treasures was Walker's 996 Porsche Turbo.

Often overlooked due to its controversial design, this model still packs a punch with impressive performance capabilities.

While purists may have mourned the transition from air-cooled to water-cooled engines, the 996 proved to be a powerhouse, delivering more horsepower from a smaller engine.

Walker's affection for this model defied the criticism, showcasing his appreciation for performance over popularity.

Arguably the crown jewel of his collection was the Saleen S7, a groundbreaking vehicle that marked Saleen's first independent production.

Designed for both road use and GT racing, the S7 boasted more power than its track-only counterpart, thanks to its turbocharged variants.

Although Walker's version wasn't the twin-turbo, it still delivered a formidable 550 horsepower, making it a standout piece in his lineup.

Walker also had a penchant for Ferraris, which often flew under the radar compared to his JDM favorites.

Among his collection was the Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale, a model that caught the eye of automotive enthusiasts for its racing pedigree.

Built on the foundation of the standard 360, the Challenge Stradale received extensive modifications for track performance, including a mid-mounted V8 engine that produced around 425 horsepower, allowing it to reach speeds of over 186 mph.

In addition to the Ferrari, Walker owned the Ford GT, a vehicle steeped in racing history.

The GT40's triumphs at the 24 Hours of Le Mans during the late '60s solidified Ford's reputation as a serious contender in the automotive world.

Walker's affinity for this American classic was evident, especially since it was the only car in his collection that remained completely stock—proof of his belief in its inherent perfection.

Another rare find in Walker's collection was the BMW M1, a special homologation car designed for FIA Group 5 sports car racing.

With only around 400 road versions produced, the M1 was a true collector's item.

Its development involved notable partnerships with renowned designer Giorgetto Giugiaro and Lamborghini, although BMW ultimately faced challenges that shifted the project's direction.

Nonetheless, Walker cherished this piece of automotive history, which recently sold for an impressive $500,000.

But perhaps the most iconic vehicle associated with Walker is his replica of the Shelby GT500 Eleanor from the 2000 remake of “Gone in 60 Seconds.”

Though not an original, this striking Mustang remains a symbol of automotive cinema.

The film itself became a cultural phenomenon, and Walker's version carried its own charm, showcasing the allure of Eleanor replicas that have since flooded the market.

From the high-octane thrills of the Nissan Skyline to the cinematic legacy of the Shelby GT500, 's car collection reflects not just a passion for speed, but a deep appreciation for automotive artistry.

Each vehicle tells a story, capturing moments from his life and career, and ensuring that his legacy continues to inspire car enthusiasts around the globe.
