Paula Patton, aged 41, has been granted a temporary restraining order against her ex-husband, Robin Thicke, by an L.A. judge following accusations of domestic violence amidst their ongoing custody battle.
The court documents, as per PEOPLE, reveal that Patton requested the order to keep Thicke, aged 39, at least 100 yards away from herself, their 6-year-old son Julian, and her mother, Joyce Patton.
In the request submitted by Patton's attorney, Larry Bakman, it is stated that Patton fears imminent serious bodily harm to herself and the child.
The shocking declaration made by Patton includes allegations of physical and emotional abuse, infidelity, and substance abuse directed at her ex-husband.
Thicke's lawyer, Angela Pierce di Donato, responded to these accusations by stating that Paula had not reported any instances of domestic violence until she was facing contempt charges for violating custody orders.
The lawyer disclosed that both Paula and Robin were asked to undergo drug testing by DCFS; while Robin complied, Paula refused.
The statement emphasized that infidelity should not be linked to custody matters, portraying Paula's actions as an attempt to harm Robin.
Patton's detailed 52-page request for a domestic violence restraining order outlined various incidents where Thicke exhibited violent behavior.
One such episode involved a confrontation during their son's third birthday party in April 2013, leading to physical violence towards Patton.
The document also mentions a tumultuous incident at the Cannes Film Festival the same year, where Thicke allegedly hit Patton and pushed her to the ground.
The series of allegations made by Patton culminated in their separation in 2014 and subsequent divorce in 2015.
The declaration highlighted a pivotal moment during the MTV VMAs in 2013 when Patton purportedly found Thicke in bed with two women, solidifying her decision to end the marriage.
Patton expressed her fear of Thicke's volatility and retribution, citing threats of financial ruin due to IRS tax issues incurred during their marriage.
Following the divorce, a custody agreement was reached granting Thicke overnights with Julian on specific days.
However, recent concerns raised by Patton regarding Thicke's behavior towards Julian prompted her to file additional documents earlier this month.
These concerns revolved around Thicke's alleged substance abuse, harsh disciplinary measures, and physical abuse towards Julian, leading to a reassessment of the custody arrangement.
Despite Thicke's lawyer mentioning the closure of physical abuse allegations against Thicke by DCFS, a source close to the situation refuted these claims, asserting that the investigation remains ongoing.
Patton reiterated her apprehensions about Julian's safety during Thicke's visitation, citing past violent incidents and expressing doubts about Thicke's ability to care for their child responsibly.
The recent development saw the judge awarding sole legal and physical custody of Julian to Paula Patton until the next hearing in February, with supervised visitation granted to Thicke three days a week at a neutral location.
Thicke maintains his position, denying the allegations raised against him and expressing his commitment to ensuring the well-being of his son amid the contentious custody battle.
