Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took a moment to show their appreciation for Sir Elton John as he embarks on his farewell tour.
In a heartfelt video message, the Duchess of Sussex expressed her congratulations to the legendary singer before his concert at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
“Hi Elton, we just wanted to say congratulations,” Meghan said, with Harry chiming in to add his own congratulations.
The couple also expressed their pride in Elton's achievements and their gratitude for being able to witness his farewell tour.
The Duke of Sussex went on to thank Elton for entertaining audiences worldwide for many decades.
He also acknowledged the singer's role as a friend to his family, including his late mother, Princess Diana, as well as their children Archie and Lilibet.
“Thank you for being the friend that you were for my mum, thank you for being our friend,” Harry continued.
“Thank you for being friends to our kids and thank you for entertaining people right around the world.”
While this might be Elton's farewell tour, Harry reassured him that it would not be his last performance.
The prince ended the message by expressing his love and admiration for the singer's incredible career.
The video concluded with a tender moment between Meghan and Harry, as she rested her head on her husband's shoulder and blew a kiss to the camera.
Over the years, the couple has developed a close friendship with Elton John.
Not only did the singer know Harry throughout his life due to his connection with Princess Diana, but he also performed at Meghan and Harry's wedding in 2018 and hosted them at his home in the South of France in 2019.
In addition to Harry and Meghan, President Biden and first lady Dr. Jill Biden also sent their well wishes to Elton over the weekend.
President Biden praised the singer as one of the greatest of all time, not only for his iconic songs but also for his courage and advocacy work that has saved millions of lives.
The outpouring of support from friends and admirers demonstrates the profound impact Elton John has had on the world through his music and humanitarian efforts.
As he continues his farewell tour, it is clear that his legacy will endure for years to come.
