**Prince Harry Shines on TIME100 Climate List for Travalyst Initiative**

In an exciting recognition of his efforts in environmental activism, Prince Harry has been named to the TIME100 Climate 2024 list.

This prestigious accolade highlights influential leaders making strides toward effective climate action, and Harry's work with Travalyst, which he founded, has earned him a spot among notable figures.

On November 12, TIME revealed this year's cohort of innovators and change-makers, dubbing them “the 100 most influential leaders driving business to real climate action.” Prince Harry, now 40 years old, finds himself in the esteemed “Titan” category alongside luminaries like Bill Gates and Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, the King of Bhutan.

The recognition sheds light on the motivation behind his environmental tourism initiative, Travalyst.

TIME emphasized that Prince Harry's journey into environmentalism began during a trip to the Caribbean in 2012, where a conversation with a young boy opened his eyes to the harm England's actions were inflicting on coral reefs.

This pivotal moment inspired him to establish Travalyst, blending the words “travel” and “catalyst,” aiming to empower travelers with sustainability information that could inform their decisions.

The publication also pointed out a staggering fact: tourism accounts for approximately 11% of global greenhouse gas emissions.

Travalyst is dedicated to reducing this significant carbon footprint within the industry, striving to make a tangible impact on environmental conservation.

In collaboration with Google, Travalyst launched the Travel Impact Model in 2022.

This innovative tool forecasts the carbon dioxide emissions travelers can expect per passenger for upcoming flights, enabling them to make more eco-conscious choices.

The initiative is backed by several industry giants, including Booking.com, Expedia Group, Mastercard, Skyscanner, Tripadvisor, and Visa.

TIME noted a remarkable achievement for Travalyst, as its flight emissions data became accessible in over 65 billion searches worldwide.

Starting this initiative while still a working royal, Prince Harry has continued to champion Travalyst since relocating to California with Meghan Markle in 2020.

This past September, during a visit to New York City, he celebrated the fifth anniversary of Travalyst, passionately discussing its core mission.

“Tourism holds immense potential to effect positive change if we approach it with good intentions,” he stated.

With the travel sector projected to contribute nearly 11.4% to the global economy by 2033, he emphasized the need for focused efforts to harness this growth responsibly.

Harry further articulated Travalyst's vision, stating, “We are dedicated to building a tourism industry that serves everyone, rather than just those in corporate boardrooms or luxurious destinations.

It is our collective duty to ensure that travel becomes a force for good, benefiting all levels of society.”

The timing of Prince Harry's recognition coincides with his brother Prince William's recent accomplishments.

Just days before, William celebrated the fourth cycle of his Earthshot Prize Awards in Cape Town, South Africa, continuing his commitment to environmental initiatives.

Launched in 2020, the Earthshot Prize aims to inspire innovative solutions to urgent environmental problems.

Set to award $1.3 million annually across five categories until 2030, the initiative seeks to amplify efforts to repair the planet.

As both brothers engage in their respective environmental missions, they continue to highlight the importance of sustainable practices and the need for collective action to address the climate crisis.
