Prince William has shared a heartfelt update about his wife, Kate Middleton, amidst her ongoing battle with cancer.
During a recent conversation with British broadcasters on November 6, just before the prestigious Earthshot Prize awards in Cape Town, South Africa, he expressed optimism about her health.
“She's doing really well, thanks,” he said, adding, “I hope she's watching tonight and cheering me on.”
Kate, who began her cancer treatment earlier this year in February, has shown remarkable resilience.
In September, she announced that she had completed her chemotherapy.
William couldn't help but beam with pride as he remarked, “She's been amazing this whole year.
I know she will be really keen to see tonight be a success.”
While William was away in South Africa, their three children—Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6—remained at their home in Windsor with Kate.
When asked if his family shares his commitment to environmental initiatives, he responded affirmatively.
“Every family tries to do what they can to help the environment,” he explained.
He elaborated on their family practices, mentioning the basics of recycling and being conscious about water usage and energy conservation.
“We try to minimize our impact on the planet as much as we can,” he said, emphasizing the importance of these small steps.
William also highlighted the significance of the Earthshot Prize, noting its broader global ambitions.
“We're aiming for large-scale solutions and business initiatives to address environmental issues,” he stated.
He hopes that his children are proud of their efforts and understand the importance of making a real difference.
In a touching moment, he shared how his daughter Charlotte made him a friendship bracelet as a reminder of home.
“This is a relic from a Taylor Swift concert,” he explained, showing off the bracelet she gifted him.
“I promised to wear it and not lose it while I'm out here.”
The Prince expressed his excitement about bringing the Earthshot initiative to Africa, noting his long-standing affection for the continent.
“I've spent many years exploring here,” he said.
“I'm thrilled by the energy and enthusiasm that's going to be present tonight.”
Discussing the event's theme, William spoke about the universal desire for hope and optimism.
“The Earthshot embodies urgent optimism,” he noted, pointing out the involvement of youth from Africa in the initiative.
“They'll let everyone know that climate action matters to them.”
He stressed that the younger generation holds the key to a brighter future.
“Without their engagement, the outlook seems bleak,” he remarked, recognizing them as the innovators and change-makers essential for positive global transformation.
Despite facing her own challenges, Princess Kate has made notable public appearances throughout the year.
After wrapping up her treatment, she attended significant events like Trooping the Colour in June and Wimbledon in July.
She recently surprised a young photographer battling cancer at Windsor Castle, offering support and encouragement.
Just days before William's remarks, she joined him in Southport to comfort the community affected by a tragic incident during a Taylor Swift-themed event, demonstrating her unwavering dedication to both her family and public service.
