Queen Camilla, renowned for her royal duties, recently opened up about a more personal aspect of her life – her love for gardening and sharing wholesome meals with her grandchildren.
Despite dining at prestigious establishments worldwide, Queen Camilla showcased her culinary skills during a visit to Godolphin Primary School in Slough back in 2013.
There, she initiated the British Food Fortnight's Bringing the Harvest Home program, engaging with young minds.
During her interaction with students Annika Mataru, 8, and Iman Ganimasa, 11, Queen Camilla was asked about her preferences when it comes to vegetables.
With a warm smile, she shared, “Yes, we all grow our own vegetables.
I think my favorite is beans, but what I truly adore are peas straight from the garden.”
She went on to impart a tip for fellow vegetable enthusiasts, emphasizing the unrivaled taste of freshly picked produce, especially peas right off the pod.
Recounting a delightful memory, Queen Camilla fondly mentioned a day spent in the garden with her beloved grandchildren, where they indulged in freshly harvested peas for hours on end.
She chuckled, revealing that the youngsters ate to their hearts' content, even pushing the limits until they felt a bit queasy – a testament to the joyous moments shared over a simple yet gratifying meal.
In a candid interview with You Magazine in 2010, Queen Camilla unveiled her deep-rooted passion for gardening, describing it as an integral part of her daily routine.
She expressed, “I still cook for myself at home.
From fillet of fish with butter and herbs to a variety of garden-fresh vegetables like kale, purple sprouting broccoli, carrots, zucchini, and an abundance of peas and beans that I freeze for later use.”
The Queen further disclosed her fondness for cultivating white peaches, a fruit she takes great pride in alongside her husband, engaging in a friendly competition over their garden's bounty.
