Recently, Rosamund Pike, known for her role in Gone Girl, shared an unsettling experience from her audition for the James Bond film, Die Another Day, starring Pierce Brosnan.
Pike disclosed that she was asked to undress for the audition, a request she boldly refused, ultimately securing a role.
During an interview with Audible, Pike recounted her initial encounter with the audacious demand.
She stated, “My first audition was for a Bond film, and I remember them saying I was to drop my dress and appear in my underwear.
On the day, I don’t know how I got the resolve and strength of mind, but I just thought, ‘Actually, sod that, if they’re gonna see me in my underwear, they better give me the job.’ So, I thought, ‘There’s no way I’m going to take off a dress in the audition for this tape to be sent around Los Angeles and to be judged on that.’”
Allegedly, Pike arrived at the audition dressed formally in a silk gown passed down from her grandmother, only to be met with a stark contrast to her attire.
The costume designer suggested a more revealing outfit, holding up three skimpy pieces of cloth.
Feeling out of place and realizing the drastic difference in expectations, she complied with putting on a shimmering garment, but stood firm in her decision not to strip as requested.
Following her refusal to comply with the inappropriate demand, Pike gained admiration from the producers, who recognized her strength of character.
Consequently, she was offered the role of Miranda Frost, embodying the character of a femme fatale in the movie.
