In a surprising turn of events, Meghan Markle's anticipated appearance on Jimmy Fallon's show has been postponed.
Insider sources revealed to Page Six that the Duchess of Sussex will be focusing on preparations for Queen Elizabeth's funeral instead of making her scheduled guest appearance as part of her recent PR efforts.
Initially set to grace the stage of NBC's The Tonight Show on September 20 alongside her husband Prince Harry during their visit to the U.N. General Assembly in New York City, Meghan's appearance on Fallon's show has now been called off.
The sudden change of plans also affects the upcoming episode of Markle's Archetypes podcast, which was slated to air on the same day as her Fallon appearance.
Following the passing of the monarch at the age of 96, Prince Harry was the first royal to depart Balmoral, the Queen's Scottish estate, to return to their Windsor residence, Frogmore Cottage, where Meghan was eagerly awaiting his arrival.
The couple intends to remain in the UK until the state funeral of the Queen, expected to take place on Monday, September 19.
While Meghan and Harry's children, Archie and Lilibet, aged 3 and 1 respectively, are currently based in California, it remains uncertain whether they will accompany their parents to the UK for the funeral.
Despite previous claims by Meghan that the royal family had no intentions of granting titles to her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet may now inherit such titles due to Harry's position in the line of succession.
In a public statement, King Charles III expressed his support for Harry and Meghan as they navigate their lives abroad, marking Harry's first official address since the Queen's passing.
This comes shortly after Meghan's candid interview with The Cut, where she emphasized the importance of forgiveness and acknowledged underlying conflicts within the royal family.
Reflecting on her decision to step away from the royal spotlight, Meghan highlighted the effort required to let go of anger and embrace forgiveness.
Coincidentally, the Sussexes were in the UK when news of the Queen's passing emerged.
Having recently attended events in Düsseldorf, Germany, and Manchester, England, the couple found themselves in Windsor as the royal family rushed to Scotland to be by the Queen's side.
Initially planned for Meghan to join Harry, the dynamics shifted abruptly, with Harry proceeding alone due to reported tensions behind the scenes.
As preparations for the Queen's funeral unfold, details have emerged about the procession across Scotland for public viewing.
The royal hearse carrying the Queen's coffin will journey from Balmoral Castle to the Palace of Hollerud House in Edinburgh, allowing members of the public along the route to pay their respects.
The funeral service is scheduled to take place at Westminster Abbey in London on September 19, with the royal cortege departing from Balmoral Castle en route to Aberdeenshire for a tribute stop before reaching its final destination.
