Following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, King Consort Camilla has become eligible to serve as a Councillor of State.

Additionally, Princess Beatrice, as the eldest child of Prince Andrew and next in line to the throne after Prince William and Prince Harry, also qualifies for this role.

However, if the existing laws are upheld, three out of the five Councillors of State would not be active working royals.

Historically, the law was last amended in 1953 to allow the Queen Mother to continue serving as a Councillor of State after King George VI's demise.

Should the law undergo further changes, it is anticipated that Prince Andrew and Prince Harry might be replaced by other royal siblings such as Princess Anne and Prince Edward, who hold official royal positions.

Similarly, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle relinquished their working royal roles and relocated to North America shortly after.
