In an interview with The Breakfast Club, RZA discussed the infamous incident between Russell Crowe and Azealia Banks that took place one year ago.
The conversation primarily focused on the Wu-Tang Clan's latest album, The Saga Continues, but quickly turned serious when RZA was asked about the night with Banks.
Interestingly, last week also marked the release of the trailer for Love Beats Rhymes, a film in which RZA and Banks collaborated.
When questioned about whether Crowe physically assaulted Banks, she claimed he choked her, spat on her, threw her out, and used racial slurs.
RZA confirmed that Crowe did indeed spit at Banks, stating that he witnessed the act himself.
However, he clarified that the spit did not make contact with her as he was positioned between them during the altercation.
RZA also asserted that Crowe did not strangle Banks or use racial slurs against her.
To further support his stance, RZA posted a statement on Facebook describing Banks as an “obnoxious erratic individual,” implying that her behavior may have contributed to the altercation.
Banks, however, remains dismissive of RZA's account.
She took to social media to express her disagreement with his statements.
The full interview can be viewed below, with the discussion about Azealia Banks beginning around the 30-minute mark.
