In a candid interview with Variety, Sally Field opens up about her romantic involvement with the late Burt Reynolds, shedding light on a relationship that was far from perfect.
The two stars first crossed paths on the set of their 1977 film “Smokey and the Bandit” and embarked on a tumultuous love affair that spanned five years.
Contrary to the image portrayed to the public, Field now discloses that Reynolds was not someone she could tolerate.
Reflecting on their time together, she admits, “He was just not good for me in any way.”
It appears that Reynolds had created a distorted perception of their connection, believing that Field held more significance in his life than she actually did.
However, Field candidly asserts, “I just didn't want to deal with that.”
Field's revelations about Reynolds' controlling nature were not entirely unexpected.
In her memoir, “In Pieces,” released in 2018, she delves into the darker aspects of their relationship.
When asked about her decision to share these intimate details, Field expresses no regrets.
