Sally Field Reveals Unspoken Relationship with Burt Reynolds for Last 30 Years of His Life

In an interview on “The View,” Sally Field opened up about her relationship with the late Burt Reynolds.

Field, who recently released her memoir “In Pieces,” disclosed that she had not spoken to Reynolds for the last three decades of his life.

The iconic actor passed away on September 6th due to cardiac arrest.

Field acknowledged that while Reynolds played a significant role in her life, it was only for a brief period.

The pair dated for three years and had an on-and-off relationship for two years.

However, for the last 30 years, they did not communicate.

During the interview, Field mentioned that Reynolds would occasionally try to reach out to her through the media.

This behavior started even when they were dating, with Reynolds discussing personal matters with her publicly that could have been addressed privately.

For instance, Field shared that Reynolds would appear on shows like the “Today” show and say, “I need to tell Sally…” Although she found it amusing, she expressed that Reynolds would always hold a special place in her heart and history.

In light of his passing, Field took solace in the fact that he was no longer suffering.

Field and Reynolds initially met while filming “Smokey and the Bandit” in 1977.

They went on to work together in four other movies before their relationship ended in the 1980s.

When co-host Sunny Hostin mentioned that Reynolds had referred to Field as the “love of his life,” Field responded by quoting a 2015 Vanity Fair interview, saying, “Well, in retrospect.”

Following Reynolds' death, Field stated that the memories of their time together would never fade from her mind.

In a statement to The Associated Press, she said, “There are moments in life that are so profound, they endure forever.

They stay alive, even after forty years.

My time with Burt will always remain in my thoughts.

He will forever hold a place in my heart and history.

Rest in peace, Buddy.”
