In a shocking turn of events, Salma Hayek has come forward with more disturbing details about her alleged abuse at the hands of Harvey Weinstein.
Hayek had previously accused Weinstein of harassing her for five years while working on the film Frida.
She revealed to the New York Times that when she rejected his s**ual advances, he became furious and made her time on set unbearable.
Among the numerous allegations, Hayek, who is now 51 years old, claims that Weinstein threatened to kill her and coerced her into performing a n^de scene with her close friend and co-star, Ashley Judd.
(Judd also shared her own accusations against Weinstein with the New York Times in October.)
Hayek also stated that Weinstein initially refused to give Frida a wide release, allegedly because she did not want to engage in a s**ual relationship with him.
During a conversation with Oprah Winfrey at the Apollo Theater, Hayek opened up about Weinstein's violent behavior towards her.
Hayek disclosed that Weinstein told Frida director Julie Taymor, “I am going to break the kneecaps of that ‘C-word.'”
Although Hayek did not delve into specific details during the conversation, she expressed her depression and paranoia during that time.
She confessed, “I tried to get out.
I couldn't get out.
He told me, ‘I'm going to kill you.'”
Hayek still grapples with guilt for not speaking out about her experience sooner and admits feeling ashamed for keeping it hidden for so long.
“They contacted me to be a part of the initial story for the New York Times…
I started crying when they asked, and I ended up not doing it,” Hayek shared.
“I started crying because I had PTSD.”
She continued, “Then I felt ashamed.
I was supporting women for two decades, and then I was a coward.
I was pretending everything was okay, so I had been around Harvey and acting like everything was okay.”
Hayek revealed that it took her months to write her original op-ed, and every time she picked up a pen, tears would stream down her face.
Through a representative, Weinstein has vehemently denied these allegations as well as any claims of non-consensual s**.
