Salma Hayek, the renowned actress, recently shared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon that she once suspected her husband, François-Henri Pinault, of having an affair.
Despite being considered one of the most desirable women in the world, Hayek admitted that she engaged in some detective work to uncover the truth.
During the interview, Fallon asked Hayek about the language spoken at home between her and her French husband.
Hayek revealed that they communicate in English but with “very bad accents,” jokingly referring to it as the “Switzerland language.”
She admitted that their daughter Valentina often teases her husband about his accent.
About a year ago, Pinault had mentioned getting a dialect coach to improve his English accent.
However, Hayek thought he had forgotten about it since he never brought it up again.
But then, a few days ago, Hayek happened to see a message on her husband's phone that caught her attention.
In a playful manner, Hayek imitated the text message, pretending to be the “other woman” named Elena.
The message said, “Hi, this is Elena.
If you want to improve your English, you have to practice.
Do you want to practice now?”
Hayek, who takes pride in her Mexican heritage, jokingly warned Fallon that Mexicans don't take such situations lightly.
Initially furious, Hayek decided not to confront her husband about the message, as she trusted him.
However, she couldn't help but mention it during dinner, asking him about Elena.
Pinault denied knowing anyone by that name, which led Hayek to become even more confrontational.
Hayek told her husband to inform Elena that she could practice English with her since she also speaks the language.
It was only later that the couple realized the message was from a language app called ELSA that Pinault had downloaded.
Hayek warned the audience that the app did not work well for her husband's strong French accent.
Despite the initial misunderstanding, Hayek and Pinault were able to laugh it off.
This incident showcased the couple's ability to navigate through challenges with humor and trust.
