The news was confirmed by his family in a statement to PEOPLE on Monday.

In the statement, his family expressed their profound sadness and shared that Bryan had peacefully passed away on August 5 after a three-year struggle with ALS.

They also revealed that Bryan had chosen to keep his battle with ALS private, and his loved ones did their best to respect his wishes.

The family expressed immense gratitude towards the doctors who supported them throughout Bryan's illness and the remarkable nurses who selflessly cared for him, often sacrificing time with their own families.

As they navigate this difficult time, Bryan's family has requested privacy to grieve and acknowledge the heart-wrenching reality of saying goodbye.

Bullock, who is now 59 years old, initially met Bryan Randall when he photographed her son Louis's birthday in January 2015.

They gradually made their relationship public later that same year, even attending Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux's wedding together.

During a Red Table Talk appearance in December 2021, Bullock spoke about love and marriage.

She referred to Bryan as the love of her life and emphasized that they share two beautiful children, including Bryan's older daughter from a previous relationship.
