Sean Connery, the iconic actor known for his portrayal of James Bond, has stated that he will not be leaving any of his estimated $170 million USD fortune to his son, Jason Connery.
This decision was made clear to Jason by Sean himself, according to Sean's former wife, Diane Cilento.
Diane Cilento, who was married to Connery for 11 years before their divorce in 1973, revealed that Sean was adamant about Jason forging his own path and earning his own living rather than relying on his father's wealth.
This stance created difficulties in their relationship, as Jason felt compelled to prove himself outside of his father's shadow.
In fact, Diane claims that at one point, Jason even considered changing his last name to distance himself from his father's fame.
This prompted a heated exchange between the two, with Sean threatening Jason if he were to go through with it.
Despite these challenges, Diane emphasized that Jason loves his father deeply and is always there for him when he needs support.
Connery's upcoming autobiography, “Being A Scot,” sheds light on his humble beginnings in Edinburgh, where he was raised by his mother and father, who worked as a cleaner and truck driver, respectively.
The family lived in a small home without a bathroom, using a communal toilet instead.
Before his acting career took off, Connery held various jobs, including being a milkman, a barrow pusher, a lorry driver, a laborer, a coffin polisher, and an artist's model.
His rise to fame came with the role of James Bond in the 1962 film “Dr No.”
Jason, who is currently working as an actor and film director, developed an interest in the industry while attending Gordonstoun as a boarder.
He went on to study at the Bristol Old Vic drama school and worked as an assistant stage manager at the Perth Repertory Company to earn his Equity card.
During the early 1980s, Jason faced financial hardships and relied on handouts from fellow actors to get by.
Despite these challenges, he persevered and has recently completed directing his second film, an action thriller featuring Cuba Gooding Jr. and Ray Winstone.
Neither Sean Connery nor Jason has commented on whether Jason will eventually inherit any part of Sean's fortune.
Sean currently resides in the Bahamas and maintains a private life away from the public eye.
The details of his autobiography, along with his decision regarding his wealth, will undoubtedly intrigue fans and readers alike.
