Sharon Stone has come forward with an allegation that an unnamed former head of Sony exposed himself to her and insinuated s**ual activities in his office back in the 1980s.
The acclaimed actress disclosed this incident during a recent episode of SiriusXM's Let's Talk Off Camera With Kelly Ripa, which aired on Wednesday.
In the interview, Stone delved into a range of topics including a controversy related to “karma” with the Chinese government, her past health issues, and aspects of her past marriage with Phil Bronstein.
She also shed light on why she refrained from naming individuals during the peak of the #MeToo movement and in her 2001 memoir.
However, she did notice a shift in the behavior of men in the industry after issuing a warning about addressing harassers publicly.
During the conversation with Ripa, Stone recounted an encounter with an executive whose identity remains undisclosed.
She shared that the incident occurred in the '80s, a few years after she moved to Los Angeles.
Stone vividly remembered wearing what she described as her “one good outfit” – a Ralph Lauren jacket, denim skirt, and cowboy boots.
In her account, Stone vividly described the setting in the executive's office where she was seated on a low couch, making her long legs more prominent as he paced in front of her.
The actress narrated how the executive showered her with compliments, emphasizing her beauty, intelligence, and articulation before abruptly exposing himself to her.
The unexpected and inappropriate act left Stone in a state of nervous laughter and tears due to her young age and bubbly personality.
She recalled her reaction as a mix of laughter and crying, unable to control her emotions as she found herself in a distressing situation.
Feeling traumatized, Stone recollected being left alone in the room until the executive's secretary intervened and escorted her out.
Reflecting on the distressing incident, Stone expressed that it was not an isolated experience in her career but stressed the parallels between her encounter and the ordeal of a younger singer who recently shared her own story of harassment.
Despite the passage of time, Stone highlighted that similar incidents are still prevalent today, albeit with more individuals coming forward to share their stories openly.
The actress emphasized the importance of raising awareness and creating a supportive environment for victims to speak out without fear of repercussions.
As she reminisced on the emotional impact of hearing the singer's account, Stone expressed gratitude for the evolving societal attitudes that now encourage survivors to share their experiences and seek justice.
She concluded by reflecting on the fear and apprehension that once hindered her from speaking out, underscoring the significance of amplifying voices and fostering a culture of accountability and empowerment in the entertainment industry.
