American actress Allison Mack, known for her role in the television series Smallville, has been released from federal prison after serving two years of a three-year sentence on racketeering and conspiracy charges.
Mack was involved in the cult-like group Nxivm and played a key role in recruiting women for the organization.
She also assisted United States prosecutors in convicting the group’s leader, Keith Raniere, of s** trafficking and other crimes.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed Mack’s release on Monday from a prison in Dublin, California.

Mack’s sentencing in a Brooklyn court in 2021 highlighted her use of her celebrity status to lure women into the group, where they were groomed as s**ual partners for Raniere.
The judge described Mack as an “essential accomplice.”
Arrested in 2018, Mack pleaded guilty in 2019 to racketeering and conspiracy charges.
Although she faced a potential 17-year prison sentence, she received a shorter term due to her cooperation with prosecutors.
By providing evidence against Raniere, Mack helped strengthen the case against him.
Raniere, who was sentenced to 120 years in prison in 2020, was found guilty of s** trafficking and other heinous crimes.
Some women within Nxivm were subjected to s**ual abuse by Raniere, and a secret ceremony involved branding them with his initials.
Prior to her involvement with Nxivm, Mack gained fame for her role in Smallville, which aired for 10 seasons starting in 2001.
However, she became deeply entrenched in the group and quickly rose to a high-ranking position.
Nxivm was headquartered in Albany, New York.
During her court proceedings in 2019, Mack admitted to luring women into a clandestine subgroup within Nxivm under the pretense of a female mentorship program.
However, instead of fulfilling these promises, she coerced them into becoming “slaves” within the group, with some women being forced to engage in s**ual activities with Raniere.
In a letter addressed to those affected by her actions, Mack expressed remorse for her decisions and the harm she caused.
She acknowledged her complete dedication to Keith Raniere’s teachings, believing they would lead her to personal enlightenment.
However, she now recognizes that joining Nxivm was her biggest mistake and deepest regret.
