A Murder in the Heat of Phoenix
Phoenix, a wealthy suburb in the Sonoran Desert, is known for its luxury resorts and scorching summer temperatures.
On June 29, 1978, the day started like any other hot summer day in Scottsdale.
The sun blazed above 100 degrees, and residents sought refuge in their air-conditioned homes.
However, the day took a dark turn.
Responding to a call from a local apartment complex, police stumbled upon a disturbing scene.
In a dimly lit first-floor apartment, they discovered the lifeless body of a shirtless man.
The man, identified as 49-year-old Bob Crane, lay sprawled on the bed with two large wounds above his left ear and an electrical cord wrapped around his neck.
The room was splattered with blood, saturating the walls and ceiling.
