Tippi Hedren, known for her roles in Alfred Hitchcock's films “The Birds” and “Marnie,” revealed that while she survived working with the renowned director, her career suffered greatly.
The recently released HBO movie, “The Girl,” depicts Hedren's experience with Hitchcock, with Sienna Miller playing Hedren and Toby Jones portraying the obsessive director.
In the movie, Hitchcock is shown as infatuated with Hedren and resentful when she rejects his advances.
Hedren spoke about her ordeal at a meeting of the Television Critics Association, stating that Hitchcock “ruined my career, but he didn't ruin my life.”
She had to fight to get out of her contract with him, which resulted in her losing opportunities for roles.
During the meeting, Miller joined in via telephone and engaged in friendly conversation with Hedren, making reference to a new addition in Miller's life.
It was revealed that Miller had given birth to a baby girl named Marlow in early July.
When Hedren asked about Marlow, Miller humorously replied that she was currently screaming upstairs.
“The Girl” is set to premiere on HBO on October 20th, offering viewers an insight into the tumultuous relationship between Hitchcock and Hedren.
