Cybill Shepherd, the stunning actress known for her breakthrough roles in the early 1970s, celebrates her 73rd birthday tomorrow.
Despite the passing years, she remains as beautiful and vivacious as ever.
It was during this time, fifty years ago, that she met the legendary Elvis Presley.
When news reached The King that Shepherd was visiting Memphis, he couldn't resist requesting a date.
However, the young actress, who was only 22 at the time, asserted herself by insisting that Elvis call her personally.
Recalling the experience, Shepherd shared, “He asked me out through a mutual acquaintance, but I said, ‘No, he said he'd call me himself!'
So then my best friend Jane picked up the phone and said, ‘Oh my God, it's Elvis!'”
They arranged to meet at a theatre that Elvis rented out until midnight.
Though they waited for what felt like an eternity, when he finally arrived, everyone in the row to Shepherd's right stood up.
In Memphis, Elvis had a group of close friends known as the Memphis Mafia.
Reflecting on the encounter, Shepherd admitted, “At the time, I thought he was too old for me – the Beatles were my music – but there was this chemistry between us…
He smelled soapy, and sweet, like sugar and sweat.
I felt a lot for him.”
During the year 1972, Cybill Shepherd and Elvis Presley engaged in an affair that would become a notable chapter in both their lives.
Shepherd offered further insight into their relationship, revealing, “He liked girls to wear white underpants, you know what I mean,” alluding to the King's notorious preference for the innocence of younger girls.
Priscilla, after all, was just 14 when she first met Elvis.
Additionally, Elvis disliked sleeping alone, making companionship as important as the physical acts.
Having shared a bed with his mother until her passing during his military service, Elvis carried the weight of that loss throughout his life.
As Memphis Mafia member Lamar Fike confirmed, “His s**ual appetite was very, very strong.
The touching and the feeling and the patting and everything else meant more to Elvis than the actual act.
I guess Elvis was the King of Foreplay.”
When asked about the quality of their intimate encounters, Shepherd enthusiastically replied, “Oh yes!
Wonderful… Loving and caring.”
However, in another interview, she revealed that she had taught Elvis a thing or two in bed.
Referring to a chapter in her autobiography titled “White boys don't eat…”, she disclosed that Elvis initially hesitated to perform oral s** on her.
Shepherd playfully added, “I had to teach him how to do it.
There are worse things to teach a man!”
As Cybill Shepherd celebrates her birthday, she continues to cherish the memories of her time with Elvis Presley.
Their affair remains an intriguing chapter in both their lives, forever etched in history.
