Tom Cruise, the renowned actor known for his roles in Top Gun: Maverick and Mission: Impossible, has reportedly not had any contact with his daughter, Suri, for over ten years.
The reason behind this estrangement is said to be Cruise's association with the Church of Scientology.
Despite their lack of relationship, it has been revealed that Cruise will still be financially supporting Suri's college education.
Cruise shares custody of Suri with his ex-wife Katie Holmes, but the pair have not seen each other since their divorce in 2012.
Now a teenager, Suri is currently in the process of applying to colleges.
Although Cruise will be responsible for funding her education, he has no say in which institution she will ultimately attend.
According to a source close to Holmes, Cruise has no involvement in Suri's life and they have not communicated in a decade.
It is also noted that Suri does not watch her father's movies.
The strained relationship between Cruise and his daughter is said to have begun when Suri was only six years old.
Similar to Nicole Kidman, Holmes divorced Cruise due to his affiliation with Scientology, and she did not want Suri to be raised within the controversial religion.
While Holmes briefly explored Scientology during their marriage, having been raised Catholic herself, she distanced herself from the church following the divorce.
Although the divorce settlement stipulated financial support from Cruise, the actor has not maintained a personal connection with his daughter.
In addition to paying $400,000 annually in child support, Cruise is also responsible for covering Suri's medical expenses.
As Suri now prepares for college, planning to study either fashion or music in New York City, Cruise is obligated to fund her tuition fees as per the terms of the divorce settlement.
Samantha Domingo, a self-proclaimed “Cult Whistleblower” who exposed the secrets of Scientology in her book, has shed light on why Cruise is unable to have a relationship with Suri.
According to Domingo, the Church does not recognize Suri as Cruise's daughter because she is not a Scientologist.
Instead, she is viewed as a “spiritual being in Tom's daughter's body.”
Interestingly, Cruise's beliefs align with those of his religion, as he has made no efforts to establish a connection with Suri, despite being actively involved in the lives of his other children.
During his marriage to Kidman, the couple adopted Isabella and Connor Cruise, both of whom were raised within the Church of Scientology, despite Kidman herself not being a member.
Isabella, now 30, and Connor, 28, maintain relationships with both of their parents.
Despite growing up without her famous father, Holmes asserts that being raised by a single mother in New York City has greatly influenced Suri's character.
Described as intelligent and mature, Suri showcases talent in both fashion and music, even contributing to the soundtrack of Holmes' upcoming romantic comedy film, Alone Together.
In conclusion, Tom Cruise's absence from his daughter's life for over a decade raises questions about the impact of his association with the Church of Scientology.
While he continues to financially support Suri, their lack of communication and the religious divide between them remain significant factors in their strained relationship.
