Val Kilmer has responded to claims made by Michael Douglas that he is battling cancer.
The Top Gear actor took to his Facebook page to clarify his health status, stating that he has “no cancer whatsoever.”
Kilmer's statement comes a day after Douglas reportedly suggested that Kilmer was dealing with the same illness he had been diagnosed with in 2010.
During a discussion about their 1996 film, The Ghost and the Darkness, Douglas mentioned Kilmer's health, saying, “Val was a wonderful guy who is dealing with exactly what I had, and things don't look too good for him.”
However, Kilmer, 56, refuted these claims, stating that the last time he spoke to Douglas was almost two years ago when he sought a referral for a specialist to diagnose a lump in his throat.
Kilmer received treatment for the lump at UCLA but did not disclose the nature of the lump or the specific treatment he underwent.
Despite denying having cancer, Kilmer admitted to still experiencing some health issues.
He mentioned having a swollen tongue and undergoing steady rehabilitation.
Kilmer also emphasized that he has been actively working on multiple film projects, including one that he directed.
He further expressed his appreciation for Douglas as a friend and clarified that he believes Douglas meant no harm by his comments.
A spokesperson for Michael Douglas declined to comment on Kilmer's Facebook post, leaving the situation unresolved.
This is not the first time Kilmer has faced rumors about his health.
In 2013, he was admitted to UCLA for treatment, which he later clarified was not related to a tumor or any surgical procedures.
Kilmer explained that he stayed under the care of the UCLA ICU due to a complication that required close monitoring.
As Kilmer and Douglas address these conflicting statements regarding Kilmer's health, fans and the media are left with unanswered questions.
Kilmer's insistence that he is cancer-free contradicts Douglas's remarks, leaving room for speculation and confusion.
It remains to be seen how this situation will develop and whether further statements will be made by either party in the future.
