In a shocking revelation, actor Hugh Grant has finally opened up about the reasons behind his infamous cheating scandal with prostitute Divine Brown, which ultimately led to his breakup with Elizabeth Hurley over two decades ago.
During an episode of Marc Maron's “WTF” podcast, the 60-year-old actor admitted that he was in a “bad frame of mind” during the time of the incident.
He attributed his state of mind to the upcoming release of his first Hollywood film, “Nine Months,” in 1995.
Grant shared that he had just attended a screening of the film and felt a sense of dread about his own performance.
Despite acknowledging the brilliance of his co-stars, he believed his own acting was atrocious, leading to a negative mindset.
Seeking solace or distraction from his concerns, Grant decided to have what he referred to as a “Ken Russell kind of lunch.”
However, this decision took a disastrous turn when he was caught engaging in a s**ual act with Divine Brown in a car in Los Angeles.
It was reported that Grant had paid Brown $60 for oral s**.
As a consequence of his actions, Grant faced legal trouble and was eventually ordered to pay a fine of $1,000.
Additionally, he was required to attend an AIDS education program as part of his punishment.
At the time, Grant expressed deep remorse for his behavior.
In a statement published by the New York Times, he described his actions as “completely insane” and acknowledged the hurt he caused to loved ones and embarrassment he brought upon his colleagues.
