Woody Harrelson’s Father Accused of Murder and Convicted of Assassinating Judge

A recent podcast has revealed that 's father, Charles Harrelson, was accused of murder not once, but twice before being convicted for the assassination of a judge.

Charles, who also claimed responsibility for killing John F. Kennedy at one point, was sentenced to jail for the 1979 murder of U.S. District Judge John Wood Jr in San Antonio, Texas.

Prior to this conviction, Charles had already served five years for the murder of Sam Degelia Jr. in 1973.

In 2013, trial lawyer David Berg claimed to have discovered new evidence linking Charles to the 1968 killing of his brother Alan, for which he had been acquitted in 1970.

A new podcast titled “Son of Hitman” will feature interviews with Woody's brothers, Brett and Jordan, shedding light on their father's gruesome crimes and his impact on their lives.

Charles Harrelson, a professional gambler, died in 2007 at the age of 69 due to a heart attack.

He was held at Colorado's Supermax federal prison until his death, serving two life sentences for the assassination of Judge Wood.

The alleged mastermind behind the judge's murder was Jimmy Chagra, who was facing drug charges that Judge Wood was set to preside over.

The podcast aims to expose the corruption surrounding Charles Harrelson's trial and highlight the lack of fairness he experienced.

Brett, one of Woody's brothers, emphasizes the importance of revealing the extent of this corruption.

However, Woody and their mother prefer to keep the matter private and personal.

Chief prosecutor Ray Jahn, interviewed on the podcast, describes Charles as an outright psychopath and cold-blooded killer.

Woody, now 58 years old, first learned about his father's criminal activities when he was 12 years old.

His father had abandoned the family, leaving Woody and his two brothers to be raised by their mother.

In 2012, Woody mentioned in an interview with The Guardian that he discovered his father's name connected to the assassination of Judge Wood years after the event.

He expressed shock and disbelief at the realization.

Despite the challenges in their relationship, Woody made efforts to support his father.

He attempted to secure a new trial for him and spent a significant amount of money on legal battles.

Woody's father admitted to the murder-for-hire of Judge Wood and claimed involvement in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, although he later recanted the latter statement.

Despite Charles Harrelson's occupation and absence from his life, Woody eventually reconciled with his father.

When Charles passed away in prison due to poor health, Woody was devastated by the loss.

In a TV interview before his father's death, Woody expressed his love and fondness for him, stating that he believes there are many others who deserve to be behind bars but not necessarily his father.

The complex and intriguing story of 's father highlights the dark and troubled past of a man involved in multiple murders and the impact it had on his family.

The podcast provides a platform for exploring the details of Charles Harrelson's crimes and the subsequent repercussions.
