In an interview on “Megyn Kelly Today,” Davern, accompanied by Marti Rulli, co-author of the book “Goodbye Natalie, Goodbye Splendour,” shared insights from his recent extensive discussion with law enforcement regarding the events leading to Wood's demise.
The co-authors, promoting their podcast “Fatal Voyage: The Mysterious Death of Natalie Wood,” made shocking claims, suggesting that Wagner played a role in pushing Wood off the yacht.
Detailing his cooperation with the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department, Davern disclosed, “I provided them with all available information and agreed to undergo a polygraph test, which I passed successfully.”
Davern further alleged that following Wood's death, Wagner, who was married to Wood at the time and now 88 years old, restricted his movements, essentially holding him “captive” for nearly a year while he continued working for Wagner.
Describing his experience at Wagner's residence, Davern recounted how Wagner facilitated his employment at the studio where the TV series “Hart to Hart” was filmed.
He mentioned feeling confined within his living quarters due to what seemed like a locking mechanism on his door, creating a sense of being trapped.
Despite requests for comment on Davern's assertions, representatives for Wagner remained silent when approached by Fox News.
Rulli defended Davern's delay in coming forward, citing the initial difficulty he faced in breaking away from Wagner's influence and seeking assistance from his circle.
Wood, known for her role in “West Side Story,” met her tragic end aboard the family yacht, Splendour, during a trip with Wagner, Davern, and actor Christopher Walken.
Her lifeless body was discovered in the waters near Santa Catalina Island on November 29, 1981, at the age of 43.
